Ronaldo will be left out of Brazil’s squad for the summer’s Copa America tournament in Venezuela.

Brazil coach Dunga has opted to leave out the talismanic striker in order to look at other attacking options.

Dunga has yet to select Ronaldo since becoming coach of the national team, but insists there are no underlying motives behind his decision.

“He didn’t play at the last Copa Americas, so there’s nothing new in this,” Dunga told Brazilian television.

“We know that we can count on him when we need him, so we want to give a chance to some other players.”

Ronaldo has been in good form since joining Milan from Real Madrid in January, but will enjoy a summer of rest following Dunga’s stance.
