Seven players from the new Brasileirão champions made the best XI of the competition, while striker Gabriel Jesus was named as the player of the tournament. The best XI of the championship had in defence goalkeeper Jaílson [Palmeiras], right-back Jean [Palmeiras], defenders Pedro Geromel [Grêmio] and Yerry Mina [Palmeiras], besides left-back Jorge [Flamengo]. The middle of the field had three more representatives of Palmeiras: Tchê Tchê and Moisés were the best central midfielders, while Dudu and Flamengo"s Diego were the top attacking midfielders. The strikers were Gabriel Jesus, also from Palmeiras, and Robinho from Atlético Mineiro. The 19-year-old striker, who will join Manchester City next month, commented on how important Robinho was during his childhood.
Cuca was the best coach of the Brasileirao. The Palmeiras coach tried to go to the award ceremony, but could not land in Rio de Janeiro, because of heavy rain in the city. The top scorers of the competition were Diego Souza [Sport], Fred [Atlético Mineiro] and William Pottker [Ponte Preta]. Only the Macaca attacker was at the ceremony and thanked friends and family for the award. The revelation of the championship was attacking midfielder Vitor Bueno, from Santos, who highlighted the importance of coach Dorival Júnior in his speech.
