Without playing a single minute in Inter Milan"s 2-0 win over Genoa, Brazilian striker Gabigol left the San Siro stadium disappointed, but with clear ideas about what he wants for his future.
The 20-year-old will not accept a possible loan to Las Palmas and, according to Globo Esporte, he prefers a return to Brazil. Gabigol would like to stay at Inter Milan and continue fighting for his space. The fans support the Brazilian and ask more minutes for him, the teammates praise his commitment, but there hasn"t been any improvement in the situation of the former Santos forward. In the game against Genova, Stefano Pioli gave some signs that he could play Gabigol in the second half but the Brazilian just warmed up on the edge of the field and returned to the bench. After the full time whistle, he he left the stadium quickly alongside Éder. The youngster did not want to talk about his situation but made it clear that he"s not satisfied with the current situation. Gabigol do not plan to play in Las Palmas from January and prefers a return to his home country than going to Spain.
The Spanish club would have made an offer for Gabigol last week, but Inter still doesn"t know whether to accept it. It has been decided that some of the attackers will have to leave San Siro, but the priority is to get rid of Jovetić, who has expressed his desire to leave to play regularly. A move to Empoli, Pescara or Bologna is also ruled out as they"re teams that will fight against relegation in the second half of the league, and would be forced to practice defensive football, which wouldn"t suit the characteristics of the player. Clubs such as Genoa and Sampdoria, which occupy the middle of the table, and demonstrate attacking football, would be more suitable for the game of the youngster, but the clubs" desire will be decisive.
In the last training session before the fixture with Genoa, Gabigol gave an assist and scored a beautiful goal drawing praise from coach Stefano Pioli. The session worked so well for the Brazilian that the expectation was that he could get a chance to play on Sunday, but when it came to lining up the team, the coach surprised everyone by betting on Argentine attacker Rodrigo Palacio. Gabigol warmed up with Jovetić and Éver Banega but in the end and with the score at 2-0, the Italian coach chose to play another midfielder [Banega] to hold the ball in the midfield and not take risks.
