Spanish press reported this week that Brazilian right-back Danilo will be one of the players expected to leave Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window.
But according to the information from Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte, Danilo will remain at the Santiago Bernabéu next season. The player received direct guarantee from Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, despite enquiries from other European teams in recent days. The report adds that Los Blancos have established a recovery plan for the right-back and play his second season in better physical condition. The final of the UEFA Champions League against Atlético Madrid was the latest in a series of matches in which Danilo played with a discomfort on his right ankle. In February, Danilo went to Amsterdam to get a second opinion from Dr. Niek Van Dijk. The verdict was to continue with careful treatment, specific exercises and not to undergo surgery in the middle of the season.
A surgery is already scheduled, and, therefore, Danilo aims to recover the best shape for the 2016/17 season and also fight for a place in the national team. For the Copa América Centenário, Dunga called up Dani Alves and Fabinho. Purchased for a fee around €35 million last summer, Danilo started to have a drop in his performances just after the start of his physical problems. Despite being targeted by a portion of Real Madrid supporters, he received a sign of confidence from coach Zinedine Zidane. In recent contact, Zidane assured the Brazilian that he hoped to see him fight on equal terms for a spot in the starting XI with Dani Carvajal. In his first season, Danilo participated in 31 matches, contributing two goals and six assists.
