The draw for the group stages of this June’s Copa America Centenário in the United States was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Sunday.
The Brazilian national team would be relieved after getting a relatively easy route in the group stages of the competition played to celebrate the centenary of CONMEBOL and the Copa América. Brazil’s opening game will be against Ecuador on June 4, at the Rose Bowl, the same stadium where Seleção won their fourth world title in 1994, after penalties against Italy. On June 8 in Orlando, the Brazilians take on Haiti before closing the tournament’s initial stage in Boston, on the 12th, against Peru. Coach Dunga told SporTV: “The difference of this Copa América is we get along with the qualifiers. Then we have the Olympics. It’s a pretty heavy schedule, we’ll have to talk a lot with the clubs to see the release of the players. Some players will be in both competitions. We have a lot of work.”
