Chinese second-division side Tianjin Songjiang, coached by former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, would be close to signing Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato.
As reported by the journalist Jorge Nicola, Tianjin Songjiang arrived in São Paulo on Sunday to start their pre-season, and the expectation is that they can confirm the signing of the 26-year-old, who was officially registered as a Corinthians player last weekend. The offer to sign Pato has been accepted by Corinthians, and now the Chinese side awaits a response from the player. It’s believed that Pato will earn almost €140,000 per-week, including bonuses, if he moves to China. Before indicating Pato, Luxemburgo had already managed to take two players from Brazil; Luís Fabiano, who left São Paulo, and Jádson, bought from Corinthians.
Pato had made it clear that he wants to return to Europe, and hence wouldn’t accept proposals from the Asian market. Tianjin haven’t given up on their pursuit because Pato is yet to receive a concrete offer from a European side. The report also states that they have increased the salary offer to Pato twice since the start of negotiations in December.
