Speculation about the future of Neymar has grown in recent days with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs believed to be interested in the Brazilian star.
Back in Barcelona after taking some days off in his homeland Brazil, the 23-year-old gave a brief interview at airport to the newspaper AS. Neymar did not rule out leaving the Catalan club in the future, but confirmed that talks over a renewal are going on and is optimistic about extending his contract. He said: “Yes, we are talking about the renewal. Of course I am optimistic. About the future, I don’t know. Life is too long.”
The Brazilian national team captain has also denied any conversations with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, who’s leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season. When asked about the praise from former World Player of the Year Ronaldinho, he said: “Ronaldinho is a legend, a star. He’s the best Brazilian to ever pull on a Barcelona shirt.”
He was also asked about the comments from Pelé, who recently said that Neymar needs to play more for the team. He added: “Pelé can say whatever he wants. I only speak about myself.”
