Chelsea have been told by Shakhtar Donetsk that it will take a bid in excess of £30 million to sign Alex Teixeira.

Teixeira has been one of The Blues prime targets and they may look to step up their attempts after making their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

Last years main man Diego Costa has been embroiled in too many off the field problems and both Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy failing to make a case as Jose Mourinho’s go-to guy.

This being said the Shakhtar forward may be the next Brazilian star to leave the stable at Shakhtar and move to one of Europe’s major leagues.

In recent seasons Willian, Fernandinho and Douglas Costa have all left for either England or Germany having joined the Brazilian diaspora to Ukraine.

Teixeira has been on fire this season scoring 21 goals in 22 matches this season, including 19 in just 13 league games to lead his side to the summit of Ukrainian Premier League.

Last month, Teixeira confirmed he would be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge, revealing: “I have an offer, it was a pleasure to know that Chelsea want to sign me. It would be great if the transfer happens in January.”

Chelsea want Teixeira even though he will be cup-tied for their Champions League campaign having already turned out for Shakhtar during the group stage.

Shakhtar are unlikely to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League as they trail both Real Madrid and PSG with only two games to go.

However, Teixeira still have just over two years on his contract. Furthermore, especially if he continues his current hot streak the Ukrainian’s won’t be selling up on the cheap.
