Paris Saint Germain defender David Luiz has responded to comments that Ligue 1 isn’t competitive enough.
PSG have won the Ligue 1 title in the last three seasons and with their financial power they are strong favourites to win again this year. Despite this David Luiz thinks the competition is exciting and points out that French teams were strong in Europe last year.
“Is Ligue 1 exciting? For me, yes! Of course, the intensity is different to the Premier League, but that is a matter of the culture,” Luiz told L’Equipe. “In England, it is box to box permanently.. But in France there is also quality. We saw it last season in the Champions League with two representatives in the quarterfinals. Guingamp in the Europa League were good too. Ligue 1 is not easy, it’s exciting.”
