Dunga has made cautious changes to the Brazil side ahead of his first friendly back in charge of the Seleção.

Tomorrow night, the five-time world champions meet their first test after their World Cup failure, when they take on quarter-final opponents Colombia, at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

In training ahead of the match, the 1994 World Cup winning captain gave a chance to the group’s more experienced players as he looks to get his second spell in charge off to a bright start.

Training at Florida University lasted two hours yesterday as the new boss drilled his players, choosing eight starters from the World Cup in his preferred starting XI.

If Thiago Silva were available, that number would have been nine. Opportunities were given to left-back Filipe Luis, who joined Chelsea from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid this summer, and Atlético-MG forward Diego Tardelli.

However, the latter’s role is likely to be slightly different to that of World Cup no. 9 Fred. The Fluminense forward cut a static figure for the majority of the tournament under former boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Under Dunga’s new formation, the team’s shape is more likely to resemble a loose 4-2-4, with a quarter of attackers chopping and changing position more freely than Felipão’s more rigid 4-2-3-1.
