Sao Paulo have loaned out Argentine attacking midfielder Marcelo Canete to Serie B side Nauticco for the rest of the current campaign, after the 24 year-old found difficulties in dislodging any of head coach Muricy Ramalho’s attacking arsenal.

With the likes of Kaka and Paulo Henrique Ganso already in the reckoning for Muricy, Canete has taken the opportunity to leave temporarily in search of regular game time.

And he joins a Nautico side, based in Recife, who lie 13th in the second tier of Brazilian league action, some ten points behind leaders Ceara after 13 rounds of fixtures.

Canete moved to Sao Paulo in 2011 from Argentine giants Boca Juniors for a fee of around €2 million and spent part of the 2013 season on loan at Portuguesa.

During his time at Nautico, Sao Paulo will pay 70% of his wages, and he could be in line to make his debut in Saturday’s game away at Santa Cruz.
