Captain Thiago Silva has defended Brazil’s emotional approach to their World Cup matches.

The defender, who netted in Friday’s 2-1 against Colombia, cites Ayrton Senna and Oscar Schmidt as examples of people who were successful, but still allowed themselves to be get caught up in the occasion.

“We experience all possible emotions and don’t wait to start the game before we feel them,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.

“People talk about emotion, but if you do not feel emotion, then you cannot give your best on the field.

“Both Ayrton Senna and Oscar Schmidt gave themselves body and soul, so they were not afraid to cry. I give myself body and soul to the team.”
