Argentina legend Diego Maradona has labeled Neymar as a genius and called for Lionel Messi to start delivering like the Brazilian has so far.

The two Barcelona men are among the top goalscorers at the 2014 World Cup, but Neymar has undoubtedly been the main star with four goals.

Messi scored against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran but hasn’t performed as well as he does for his club side.

Goal quoted Maradona on how Neymar has coped with the pressure, he said: "At 1-1 [against Cameroon], the contest was even and it took the genius of Neymar to calm home nerves.

"He hasn"t been a big hit at Barcelona yet, but wearing the yellow shirt, the 22-year old has had some amazing success.

"Brazil are depending on him and instead of getting weighed down, he has shown that he can carry the pressure of expectation."

The expectation on Messi hasn’t weighed down the Argentine yet but Maradona feels he needs to help inspire his country like Neymar is doing.

"Neymar struck at the right time [against Cameroon] and the second one was crucial because it brought Brazil back at a time when they were all over the place," Maradona added.

"Argentina fans will expect from Messi what Neymar has done for Brazil. He has scored two beautiful goals in what has been an average campaign for his team so far."
