Name: Hulk

Position: Striker

Age: 27

Club: Zenit St. Petersburg

Caps [goals]: 33 [8]

The man whose nickname derives from the famous comic character started off his career proper in Japan with spells at Kawasaki Frontale, Consadole Sapporo and Tokyo Verdy; it wasn"t until he moved to Europe with FC porto that Hulk became a household name though. Constantly linked with a move to one of the continent"s really major clubs, an impressive World Cup may make that a reality.

Why has he been selected?

One of Luiz Felipe Scolari"s favoured personnel in the past two years, Hulk offers a goal threat (although sometimes inconsistently), as well as a determined attitude to track back and help Brazil defend as a unit. He can also play on either side of an attacking trio.

How has he played this season?

A good second season in Russia from Hulk; the team progressed from Group G in the Champions league, finishing second to finalists Atletico and losing in the first knockout round against Borussia Dortmund.

What will his role be in Brazil?

Hulk will line up alongside Neymar and Oscar behind lone striker Fred, if Scolari"s previous team selections are anything to go by.
