Djair, the father and agent of Atlético Madrid midfielder Diego, has confirmed Santos have made an offer for his son.
The 29 year-old is only contracted to Atlético until the end of the season and Djair admits it is likely that he will return to Santos and sign a three year deal, once the campaign is over.
“The truth is that we are still talking about details of the contract but we haven’t fixed a date to sign the contract,” he told Globo Esporte, as reported by Sky Sports.
“We are waiting for the Spanish league and the Champions League. But the numbers being offered are like what we want. They are within our expectations, it would be a three-year contract.”
Diego started his career with Santos and made his debut as a 16 year-old in 2002. He would go to win the 2002 and 2004 Brasileirão’s before moving to Porto.
