The players named in Luiz Felipe Scolari"s World Cup squad have been responding to today"s announcement. 

 

The Roma defender Maicon said he was “very happy and thrilled with this news", according to SporTV.  

 

“I"m glad to return to Brazil, all the more so for a tournament of this size. I hope everything goes well for me and the squad," said Maicon.

 

Some of his team mates took to Twitter to give their reaction, with Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho posting: “[I"m] really happy with the call up for the 2014 World Cup, I thank God, my family, my staff and my friends. God is faithful and keeps his promises."


Another Premier League player, David Luiz, said: “This moment is inexplicable! I want to thank God, my family and friends! I will do everything to honor my people!"

 

Tottenham"s Paulinho issued a rallying cry to his compatriots on the social media network, as his country looks to add to the five World Cups won in the past.

 

He said: “I am very happy to represent Brazil in the World Cup. Let"s go Brazil, in search of the sixth!"
