As Santos confirmed the loan signing of Bruno Uvini from Napoli late last night, the former Sao Paulo defender spoke of his delight at securing a move back to his homeland.

The 22 year-old, who has struggled to leave any sort of mark in Europe in the space of two years at clubs as varied as Tottenham, Siena and his parent club, told reporters: “I am very happy to return to the country. I spent two years in Italy and to get to Santos is the best thing that could have happened to me.”

“I want to thank the fans who have kept in touch over the internet.”

New teammate Rildo, a striker also on loan at the club, said: “He is an excellent player. I do not know him personally but I know of his references. He has already met the squad and I am sure he will help us for the rest of the year.”

Uvini will be loking to get a career back on track that at one point promised so much, the youngster ghaving already played three times for Brazil in 2012.
