The young full-back enjoyed a fruitful Sunday. Not only was he part of the Liverpool side that moved to the summit of the Premier League table with a 4-0 win over Tottenham at Anfield, but he was also singled out for praise from one of the finest footballers to have ever played in his position.

Former Brazilian right-back, Cafu, took to Twitter during the Sunday afternoon kick-off to say how well he believed Flanagan, dubbed the ‘Red Cafu’ by Liverpool fans, was playing.

“Good to see the RedCafu is playing well!”

21-year-old Flanagan has been an ever present figure in the team since returning from injury in November and is an important part of the side that have won eight matches in a row.

Two-time World Cup winner Cafu also revealed his thoughts on who would win this year’s closely fought Premier League title.

“Can Liverpool win the league? I think maybe… Chelsea are very strong but in a storm right now. City have a big squad,” wrote the 43-year-old.
