Tottenham Hotspur disappointingly lost the north London derby to Arsenal yesterday but fans could take small solace from the performance, which was a drastic improvement on previous outings.

Brazilian Sandro was his tenacious best throughout and he is slowly regaining his fitness following a turbulent time with injuries.

After Spurs’ 1-0 defeat he admitted it is key that everybody sticks together now to get the club through this testing time.

Sandro told Spurs TV: “We showed passion, won every ball and gave 100 per cent. It was just one shot and they scored.

“We gave everything, we pushed, but it wasn’t enough. We just needed a goal. Chadli was a good chance, Ade as well, I think we had a lot of chances.

“I know this means a lot to everyone. It’s the biggest game and we lost. It’s difficult. We have to stay together and I know the fans are with us.”

It looks likely that Spurs will exit the Europa League on Thursday night against Benfica but they’ll at least hope to end their current run of three consecutive defeats.
