Brazilian goalkeeper Júlio César Jacobi, more commonly known as Júlio César has signed a contract with La Liga side Getafe until the end of the season.
Júlio César, a namesake of the Queens Park Rangers and Brazil goalkeeper, has signed for the Madrid club after they suffered a goalkeeper crisis and it is predicted that the 27-year-old will make his debut on Friday against Granada.
If Júlio César does make his debut it will come against a team he played for on loan in the 2011/12 season and speaking to Goal.com he revealed his delight at getting back into the game.
He said: “This opportunity has come at a great time. I had good seasons in Portugal, I was right in Granda too. I have grown a lot as a goalkeeper in Europe.
“Now at 27 I’m ready for this challenge. I know that the Spanish football league is different and is very difficult but I think I will adapt quickly. Hopefully I can build a successful history with Getafe.”
Júlio César started his career at Botafogo but quickly moved to Europe and joined Belenenses in 2008 before switching to Portuguese giants Benfica a year late.
He hardly featured in his four years at Benfica and left the club in September last year. Now that the 24-year-old has joined a new club, the Brazilian will hope to impress and help Getafe stay in La Liga.
