Neymar’s representative Wagner Ribeiro believes his client is one of the cheapest players of all time despite various speculation over the exact figure in which took the striker from Santos to Barcelona.

In the summer Neymar’s transfer to the Catalan club was completed and most viewed it as a good piece of business for the La Liga side.

However it seems various payments were not documented to the public and Barcelona have recently been charged and need to pay more tax on the deal.

When Ribeiro spoke to the media after having dinner with Neymar’s father and Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, he stated that Neymar’s deal was a cheap one for the club.

UOL Esporte quoted Ribeiro saying: “Neymar is the cheapest player of all time to sign for Barcelona. He was sold by Santos for €17.1 and this is average for all the big European clubs.

“It is cheaper than all the player who rise to the first team. It is €94 million over five years, it gives €18.8 million each year including salary.

“Remove the taxes, you would get €8.2 million per year which is much smaller than the €12 million some other clubs offered.”

Ribeiro went on to talk about Neymar’s father and why he has tried to remain silent throughout this fiasco.

“Neymar would have been hired by another club earning much more but he wanted Barcelona,” added his representative.

“Neymar’s father does not like talking. He wants peace so that his child can play football. “
