Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League table today following a resounding 3-0 win over Newcastle in which David Luiz, Willian and Oscar all featured.

The last of that trio, Oscar, had spoke to the official Chelsea website before the game about the importance of not getting carried out.

He was referring to the Blues win over Manchester City on Monday night and hopes they can continue performing in the big matches.

Oscar said: “This season we have played beautiful games against the big sides and we’ve shown that we are a great team capable of beating anybody anywhere.

“We hope to continue like that. We have very important competitions with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup and we have to face some very good teams.

“We have to make sure we keep getting good results both at home and away.”

The Brazilian midfielder has been praised numerous times by Chelsea manager José Mourinho but is still focused on continuing to improve.

He acknowledges the benefit of playing in important matches, something that will prepare him for the World Cup this summer.

“It’s always important to try to improve with every game,” said the 22-year-old.

“I have been pleased with my performances so far this season but with so many important games to come I want to stay at a high level.

“Playing in big, pressurised matches definitely helps and hopefully there will be more of them to come between now and the end of the season.”
