Brazilian defender Alex has set his sights on a double fillip in 2014 as he targets a contract extension with club side PSG and a recall to the national team ahead of the World Cup later this year.

31 year-old Alex, who hasn’t managed to add to his 17 caps since 2008, reckons a continuation of PSG’s club form, which has seen them reach the last 16 of the Champions League, as well as storming ahead in Ligue 1, can aid his cause.

“I shall await the end of the season to seriously discuss my situation”, reported insidefutbol.com.

“I’m working hard to make sure the club take the right decision.”

“In terms of the World Cup, I think if I continue with my current performances, there are chances that the coach will summon me.”
