In this age of modern technology we tend to learn the thoughts of footballers through social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram and Brazil superstar Neymar has used one to reassure fans.

The Barcelona forward suffered an injury on Thursday night and many initially feared he could be out for a long time.

However tests revealed that the silky samba star would only miss four weeks and Neymar has discussed his injury.

The 21-year-old said on his Instagram account: “What a shock! At the time I thought that fall could turn into a lot of bad things.

“I thought it might have been a serious injury, I thought about my plans for 2014… but Jesus, again, was with me and it was just a scare.

“I wanted to thank everyone who prayed for me… and do not worry. I’ll do everything right and shortly I’m back.”

Neymar’s club and international team mate Dani Alves also took to Instagram to wish his friend all the best and placed his faith in God.

Alves added: “With or without crutches, faith in God that our brother’s fine.

“The breaks in life will always serve for the maturation and growth of the human beings, as long as we are true to the purpose that God has placed in our lives.”

He ended by hash tagging strength, focus and faith and I am sure Neymar will abide by all of those during the next four weeks.
