Reports in Lance suggest that Diego Forlán is looking to leave Internacional and with Botafogo already registering an interest it seems likely that the Uruguayan could move to the Rio de Janeiro club.

On Monday Argentine lawyer Daniel Bolotnikoff, the agent of Forlán, will be flying to Porto Alegre to finalise the financial dispute between the player and his parent club.

Colorado owes Forlán money and apparently are struggling to pay his $700,000 a month wages. It seems likely that Internacional will release the player from his deal if they can come to an agreement.

Botafogo are relaxed about the situation and will wait to see if Forlán becomes a free agent, the fact that they will be competing in the Copa Libertadores is likely to appeal to Forlán.

With the World Cup only six months away the striker will want to continue impressing Uruguay manager Óscar Tabárez to confirm his place in the World Cup squad.

And with Clarence Seedorf expected to leave when his contract runs out on June 30 2014, Forlán would be the perfect name and player to replace the Brazilian.

The 34-year-old, ex-Manchester United forward showed his class in the Brasileirão last season with five goals in just 15 appearances but will be aiming for more whoever he ends up playing for.
