Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has admitted he would have preferred to stay at Milan.

The Seleção captain was sold to PS-G for €42 million in July 2012. Team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimović also made the switch in the same month, joining for a fee of €20 million.

“If certain things have happened at Milan, then it means mistakes were made,” Silva told La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Football Italia. “Was selling me and Zlatan Ibrahimović one of them? It’s difficult to say, you’d have to ask those who are in charge.

“One thing is certain, I always said I didn’t want to leave Milan. The Rossoneri got a bargain with me, as they sold me for €42 million after spending just €10 million. In that sense, I feel that I helped the club.”

Silva was made PS-G captain last season by then manager Carlo Ancelotti and lifted the Ligue 1 title.

He also played under the Italian at Milan, where he won the 2010-11 Serie A and 2011 Supercoppa Italiana.
