Tottenham Hotspur will offer midfielder Paulinho a contract extension, according to a report in Lancenet.

The 25 year-old only joined the London-based club in July. The Brazilian’s impressive start at his new employees has, however, attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

To avoid their player being tempted by any outside proposal, Spurs are believed to be working on a renewal.

Lancenet claims Paulinho’s deal will be extended from July 2017 to July 2018, while his wages are also expect to be increased. He reportedly earns £3.6 million a year.

Paulinho was signed from Corinthians for £17 million. The São Paulo-native has quickly become a regular under manager André Villas-Boas. In the Premier League, he’s started seven matches, scoring once – the winner against Cardiff City.

Paulinho originally came to Europe in 2006, leaving Audax São Paulo to join Lithuanian side FC Vilnius. A year later he signed with ŁKS Łódź, before returning to Brazil, firstly at Bragantino, then Corinthians.

It was with the São Paulo-based club that Paulinho made is name, as they won the Copa Libertadores and FIFA Club World Cup in 2012.
