The former Brazil international appeared to barge referee Alexandre Castro in the tunnel during a 1-1 draw with Valenciennes at Parc de Princes on May 5.

Leonardo was furious at Castro’s decision to send-off captain Thiago Silva for lifting his hands to the referee as he protested a decision.

The 43-year-old had pleaded his innocence throughout the investigation but the incident was caught on camera by Canal Plus.

Therefore, the Disciplinary Commitee have asserted that Leonardo acted intentionally and have subsequently issued the lengthy ban.

The Ligue 1 champions were also handed a three-point suspension, which will come into force at any stage next season should another of their club officials become embroiled in a similar case.

Leonardo is now forbidden from participating in his duties at the club and being present on the touchline during les Parisiens’ matches.
