Benfica’s Brazilian players expressed their happiness following the team’s win against arch-rivals Sporting Lisbon.

The encarnados beat Sporting Lisbon 2-0, goals scored by Salvio and Lima, helping them remain as the league leaders and as one of the only two unbeaten teams in the competition. The result also kept Sporting Lisbon in a disappointing midtable position.

Luisão commented on his twitter account after the game: “Congratulations to all Benfica fans that went to the stadium or that supported us from any part of the world. It was amazing. The struggle continues. Together.”

The team’s goalkeeper Artur also used twitter to thank the fans, he said: “Congratulations to everyone, great night and a beautiful football feast.” 

Lima also talked about the derby, he told Sport TV: “It was a tough game, the win was fair, Sporting made things a lot harder, bit it was a good match. What matters is that we were humble and respected the opponent. We deserved to win.”

He also commented about the fight for the title, he said: “There are still four games left, we have to keep focus and serious and don’t pretend we have won already, we have to think one game at a time.”
