Brazilian football agent Jolden Vergette does not believe that his client Dória will leave Botafogo for Europe this transfer window, with Juventus failing to offer close to the club’s valuation of the young defender.
Dória, 18, starred in the 2012 Brasileirão after being handed a surprise first-team opportunity and impressed sides from all over Europe, with Juventus quickly expressing an interest in his signature.
Botafogo’s board are reported to be asking for a €9 million fee for their prize youngster’s services, with Juventus’ best existing offer closer to the €6 million mark. Vergette is not expecting further developments.
“The European transfer window ends next week, on the 31st,” he told reporters. “A proposal that meets Botafogo’s valuation has not arrived and I don’t think it will come in these final days.”
The player was recently part of the Brazil Under-20 side that underperformed in exiting the South American Youth Championship at the first-round stage in Argentina. Dória, though, was one of the few to emerge from the event with his reputation in tact.
The player’s economic rights are currently 40% owned by Botafogo, with Banco BMG owning 20% and an unnamed group of investors retaining a further 40%.
