Botafogo midfielder Clarence Seedorf has revealed that one of the disappointments from his first season playing in Brazil has been the lack of attendances to games at the Engenhão.

Seedorf, 36, moved to Botafogo in July after leaving AC Milan, but has been surprised by the lack of fans attending matches.

“One thing that surprised me was that here in Brazil people will little often go to stadiums,” he told Globo TV.

“They do not have that culture here. I would like to see the stadium fuller.”

As well as the lack of fans at games, the former Real Madrid and Ajax star revealed that walking through the city is hard as fans often approach him.

“On street harassment is too big, but the stadiums are not so full. I have little to enjoy in Rio de Janeiro because harassment is very large. This disrupts life a bit, so I prefer to be more guarded. Everything has a positive and a negative.”
