Corinthians striker Emerson Sheik has warned Alexandre Pato that he will ‘have to be dedicated and have commitment" if he wants to break into the Timão side should his move from AC Milan be completed.

Emerson, 34, who was the hero of Corinthians Copa Libertadores final victory over Boca Juniors in July, warned the former Internacional star that coach Tite does not pick player’s just on reputation.

“It"s hard to say who will play," Emerson told reporters after the All-star charity match organised by Zico in São Paulo on Thursday.

“We have a group of players, it is difficult to distinguish. The team of Corinthians is not about the stars, we have no star.

“It’s hard to tell … I say the same for himself [Pato] if he arrives. Tite prioritises the player who is better at the time. To play you have to be good.

“You have to train, be dedicated, to show commitment to the group and the institution. Yes there will be a place in the team because our coach is a fair guy."
