FIFA president Sepp Blatter has claimed that the incident at the Copa Sudamericana final is a ‘warning’ to authorities as Brazil prepare to host the 2014 World Cup.

Tigre made allegations against local officials that they were threatened at gunpoint at the interval of the second leg of the final at the Morumbi.

São Paulo was awarded the win and the title after Tigre refused to continue playing and the match was abandoned.

Blatter told reporters: “Such an incident that has just happened is a warning for organisers of the World Cup of what can happen.”

The incident has raised security concerns among football authorities over the country’s capability of holding a safe and friendly tournament.
