Manchester City’s Maicon wants to return to former club Inter Milan in the January window according to reports in Italy.

The Brazilian fullback has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his move from Inter in the summer as a combination of injury problems and Pablo Zabaleta’s form has kept the fullback out of Roberto Mancini’s first team plans.

Tuttosport reports that a return to Inter could be on the cards and the Nerazzurri would welcome him back as their fullbacks are currently struggling for form.

Fellow Brazilian Cicero Jonathan is set to be offloaded in the January transfer window and Uruguayan Alvaro Pereira has not been wholly convincing in the role so far this season.

Maicon’s return could provide a short term solution to the righback position for Andrea Stramaccioni’s side.
