Future Paris Saint-Germain player Lucas Moura made an emotional appearance at Morumbi Stadium on Sunday as São Paulo beat Náutico 2-1.

Lucas, 20, will head to the Parc des Princes at the turn of the New Year in a €45million (£35.5m) transfer, which was agreed earlier this summer.

More than 62,000 spectators turned out for the game, breaking the Brasileirão’s highest attendance this year, as Luís Fabiano and Rogério Ceni scored to claim another three points.

The Seleção star was evidently emotional leaving the field as the final whistle blew and during his post-match interviews.

He posted on Twitter: “I want to thank all the fans for their kindness. You make me grow and motivate me to give my best.

“I was moved yesterday by the amount of fans present at the Morumbi to support us by singing and repeating my name.

“My tears were inevitable. At each interview, I am very excited and I remember your kindness.”

Lucas has been part of the São Paulo set up since 2005 and has made more than 80 appearances for the first team, following his debut in 2010.
