AC Milan have moved to quash reports of supporters surrounding striker Alexandre Pato’s car in the fallout of the club’s 3-1 defeat to Fiorentina at the San Siro.

Brazil striker Pato was allegedly the subject of threats from angry supporters leaving the stadium after the defeat.

A club statement stated: “AC Milan categorically denies reports claiming Pato has been subject to aggressive behaviour and threats after the Milan-Fiorentina game.”

According to Corriere dello Sport, a group of fans surrounded Pato’s car after the match and hurled abuse at the striker inside the vehicle.

Pato recently returned to the first team after injury and netted in Milan’s 1-1 draw against Malaga last week.

But a crucial penalty miss against Fiorentina was seen by supporters as a costly mistake and vented their frustration on the Brazilian.

Massimiliano Allegri’s future as coach remains in severe doubt after the latest loss which sees Milan drop to 13th place, 17 points behind leaders Juventus.
