Sunday"s 1-0 away defeat to Ponte Preta ended any chance of Internacional getting a place in next seaon"s Copa Libertadores and star striker Leandro Damião admits that it"s been a bad year for the club.

Inter currently lie 8th in the table on 51 points and have another tough game this weekend when they face Corinthians in Porto Alegre, but the forward is already looking forward to next season.

He told reporters: “The frustration is high, we wanted to win the title and did not. We also tried for the Libertadores, but no use having regrets. We have to raise your heads. The year was bad for everyone, not just a player."

“You can not buy teams, we cannot be compared [with Fluminense]. All clubs spent money, and looked for great players. This year has passed, we have three games to get three wins."

Damião has had a frustrating year after suffering a number of injuries, but whether he will still be in Brazil next season is up for debate. The forward has attracted a lot of interest from top European clubs and Inter will do well to hold onto the player after the European transfer opens in January.
