Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes believes Julio César is ready to make his debut for the club, but the goalkeeper is not guaranteed to start against Chelsea tomorrow.

The 32-year-old left Italian giants Inter Milan this summer to join QPR on a four-year contract, just two months after the Premier League side had signed England goalkeeper Rob Green.

QPR had to justify their signing of the Seleção international by stating that competition for places is a good thing, and Mark Hughes has not revealed who will start in goal tomorrow.

He said: “Julio César is ready and I have a group of players here who are very strong.

“We have strengthened in every position, we have depth in the squad and that includes the goalkeepers.

“I will make my decision based on what I think will help QPR to win games. It’s up to me to make the best choice for each match. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

With just one point from three games, QPR currently occupy 20th place in the league, whereas tomorrows opponentsm Chelsea, are in first place as the only team with nine points.

The Champions League winners should have John Terry and Ashley Cole return from injury for their visit to Loftus Road on Saturday.
