Santos goalkeeper Rafael has told Globo Esporte that his team-mate Ganso does not want to leave the club.

Rafael, who is on Olympic duty with his colleague, does not believe that the much vaunted playmaker will leave, if the club can offer a better deal.

“I heard it from Ganso’s mouth that he hopes to continue at Santos. He doesn’t want to leave,” Rafael told reporters.

“It depends on negotiations between the player and the club. He came through the youth ranks and has a big attachment to the club. All his family live in Santos and he wants to stay there.”

Ganso had been heavily linked to Arsenal by some in the European media in recent days, although a move to the North London side is considered unlikely by those in Brazil.
