Lille began their season on the right footing with a 2-1 win against Le Havre. Midfielder Benoit Pedretti scored both goals for the team from Northern France.
Brazilian forward Tulio de Melo, formerly of Atlético Mineiro, played the opening 45 minutes offering a great presence in the penalty area.
“I think it was a good first preparation game,” said the centre-forward. “We were a little tired, because we have worked hard physically during pre-season.
“However, it’s always important to win and we were all able to get a work-out, while no-one got hurt. It was a great way to end a good pre-season.
Next up, Lille take on on Benfica in Metz on July 16th.
