Thiago Silva, 27, moves as part of a potential €62 million deal which also involves Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the Brazilian reportedly accounting for €42 million.

The move was announced on the French club’s Twitter, with no further details given, but it is believed that Thiago, captain of Brazil, will earn €7.5 million a year at the Parc des Princes.

Voted the best Brazilian in Europe 2011, Thiago Silva had been linked with both Barcelona and Manchester City earlier this year, but it is PSG who have won the race for his capture.

The defender becomes the fifth Brazilian in PSG’s first-team squad, joining Alex, Maxwell, Nene and Thiago Motta, as well as sporting director Leonardo.

Milan will receive a healthy profit for the defender, whom they signed from Fluminense in December 2008 for around €10 million.
