Signed after two prolific years at LDU Quito, during which side the club won a Recopa Sudamericana title, expectations were already running high ahead of the Argentine’s debut performance in a green shirt.

Although the striker’s goal was merely a tap-in header, it is no doubt a big relief for the powerful target-man to open his account and avoid the inevitable wait for a first-goal.

Alongside Wesley, Juninho, Daniel Carvalho and Paraguay’s Adalberto Roman, Barcos represents one of several significant transfer imports for Palmeiras this summer, after their poor performance in 2011.
