Goals from, Gustavo Canales and Eduardo Varga, was enough to secure the Chilean side’s place in to their first ever South American final. Universidad’s second-leg victory over Vasco gave them a 3-1 aggregate win, having drawn the first leg 1-1 back in Rio de Janeiro.

The Chilean side will now face 2009 winners, LDU Quito, in the final, with the first leg to be played in Ecuadorian capital on 7th December.

Vasco must now turn their attention to the league where they face arch rivals, Flamengo, in a must win game on Sunday. They’ll need to take all three points and hope that Palmeiras beat current league leaders, Corinthians, if there to claim their fifth Serie A title.
