Liédson and Emerson have been the stars of the Timão attack this campaign, but with the former injured and the latter suspended, Corinthians are short of attacking options.

Adriano has trained well over the last couple of weeks, but is still overweight and showing that much work must be done over the coming weeks if he is to return to his former glory.

The striker is still following the steps of his recuperation programme and is only rated as 20% fit at current levels. Strength in his left ankle is week, his mobility is well below expected and weight must be lost.

“The insecurity is still great,” admitted Adriano to Globo. “Although I am training with  the group, there are many things I am still unable to do, it is very frustrating.”

“I want to run and track back, but this is why they tell me to stay calm.”

“I have difficulty accelerating and with sideways movement. Tite needs a forward, so I am available.”

Corinthians host Atlético Goianiense at 23.00 London time in the Pacaembu on Sunday.
