The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Luigi is determined to hang on to his star man and told Radio Gaucha that Damiao would not be leaving on the cheap.
“I will only sell him if an abnormal offer comes along,” said Luigi. “Right now, we understand it is still too soon for him to leave. Damiao’s price has gone up every week, after every game.”
Damiao has been named in Mano Menezes’ Brazil squad for the friendly against Ghana on September 5, and has scored 34 goals in all competitions for Internacional in 2011.
