Lionel Messi was predictably the star of the show, and opened the scoring on 39 minutes. The Argentine forward collected a poor back pass from Fredy Guarin and rounded Porto’s Brazilian goalkeeper Helton before tapping into an empty net.
Rolando was sent off for the Portuguese side with four minutes of normal time remaining, and two minutes later Barca doubled their lead. Messi was involved again, as he chipped a beautiful pass to Cesc Fabregas, who chested the ball down before firing into the net.
There was still time for Guarin to also be dismissed as Porto finished with nine men, as Barcelona picked up their 12th trophy in just over three years under Pep Guardiola’s management.
Dani Alves played the whole game for the Catalan side, while Adriano lasted just over an hour before being replaced by Sergio Busquets. As well as Helton, Brazilians Souza, Kleber, Hulk and Fernando all featured for Porto at some stage.
