The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to Italian champions AC Milan, as well as Santos’ Brazilian rivals Corinthians. However, Ganso says that he never had any intention of leaving, and that any chance of a move was down to DIS, who own 45% of his economic rights.
Speaking after Santos’ 1-0 win over Ceara on Sunday, Ganso said: “I have given my word to the club president, Luis Ribeiro, and I want to make it clear to the fans that I will play in the Club World Cup. I will be here during Santos’ centenary next year.
“I have not received an offer from any club and I believe neither have Santos. The fans need to know that this is a debate between DIS and Santos, not Ganso and Santos. I have given my word and I can guarantee to the fans that I will not leave.”
