Juventus is currently in the USA for their pre-season, but Felipe Melo is not part of the squad. “I was not cut from the Juventus squad. Quite simply, in agreement with the directors, we decided it was inconvenient that I should only play in Serie A, considering my salary and the contract that runs to 2014,” he said to Globo. “I’ve received an offer from Europe that will vastly improve my salary. We’re finalising the details and over the next few days everything ought to be completed.”

The rumour wrongly pointed his new destination as Dortmund. But the German club denied having an interest in the defensive midfielder. “I cannot say anything about such news. I can only give a clear denial,” Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund sporting director, told Goal.com.

Nevertheless the rumours were right on his links with Sao Paulo. “I had got to the point of choosing the area I would like to live in,” Melo admitted. “And I know they would have treated me with a great deal of affection.”

But Felipe Melo wants to stay in Europe where is salary will be higher. His new club should be announced in a few days.
