The Spanish side have been splashing the cash since their recent takeover, and have already brought in Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jeremy Toulalan and Joris Mathijsen this summer.
Now, Lucio’s agent Sandro Becker claims their next target is 33-year-old Lucio. “We received an offer from Malaga, which everyone is aware of,” Becker told Goal.com Italy. “Lucio wants to play at a high level in a top European league.”
But Becker also stated that any move would have to be put on hold for the time being, with the Brazilian centre-back due to represent the national team at the Copa America.
“He is a great player and there are so many big clubs who are interested in him,” added Becker. “For now I am doing everything I can and I will show him what the situation is after the Copa America.”
