We understand Spurs are monitoring the Sao Paulo striker closely after fearing their original target, Internacional forward Leandro Damiao, could be priced out of a move to White Hart Lane.

The North London club has had the same scouts who suggested Sandro to Spurs monitoring the Tricolor frontman.

Fuelling speculation further, Dagoberto is out of contract at the end of the year and could leave the club on a free transfer. He stated this week that he could leave the club if the current deal wasn’t improved upon.

Dagoberto has always dreamed of a move to European football with Villareal, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund monitoring the 28-year old in the past.

However, Spurs could face competition from a number of clubs if Dagoberto was to leave with sources close to the club confirming CSKA Moscow could try and steal him away.

There would be work permit issues with the player, with him never representing the national side before, but if negotiations are started early, the club are confident of overcoming this obstacle.

According to other reports, Everton could also be tracking Dagoberto, but with the financial problems the Toffees are suffering, a move would be unlikely.
